Alhamdulilah earlier this week we ran our first ever Sexual Abuse talk. We had different perspectives including the psychological perspective, Islamic perspective, the medical perspective and finally ended with survivor stories.
It was an incredibly empowering event not only for those attending but our speakers too. Many people spoke about how "safe, intimate and vulnerable" this event felt. Although at times it seemed very bleak, there was an air of optimism that we are finally taking the first step forward in addressing this disease in our communities.
We were proud to be able to provide the space for this much needed discussion and pray God makes it easier for us to do so.
A massive massive massive thanks to our speakers who gave their time and expertise for us. @waheeda.islam from @nour_domestic_violence sharing with us the psychological perspective. @nasimaummhamza giving us the islamic perspective. @anbu.uk for the training at the beginning as well as sharing how to support a friend.
@inayatkanji and @leylahabebti for bravely sharing their stories with us.
Check out our story highlights for a full review of our event.
