One would wonder how do Muslim woman hold onto their faith despite having religious texts and opinions used against them consistently?
Join us at our "Let's Talk" session where we will be discussing this detrimental issue that has been circling around for some time now. When you think about how men use religious texts to subjugate and oppress women, it seems like a miracle that any of us are still Muslim! We've all heard the hadith about angels cursing women, or that the majority of hell inhabitants will be women. But is there any truth to this and does it contradict the Quran in any way?
We hope to discuss this topic in depth, clear up any misconceptions and provide a safe space to vent frustrations and come up with solutions. As always this is a women's only safe space where recordings will not be permitted.
Let’s Talk sessions are safe spaces created to allow the discussion and debate of taboo issues in the Muslim community. These sessions have 3 parts to them - first is where we discuss and debate the chosen topic. The second part is where we look at what Islam specifically says about the issue - this is important to clear up any misconceptions or ideas that are often imposed by culture and not religion. The third and final part is where we discuss individual and communal solutions to issues brought up. This helps us have an objective approach to the problem and gives a sense of hope and change.
